WomensGuild - Galilee Lutheran Church

Well, here comes Fall and we're back in gear, ladies! Our calendar is filling up with meetings & activities and fund raisers are being planned, so here's the list as it stands:

Meeting: Sunday, October 2nd after Fellowship.
L.W.M.L. Sunday, October 9t. We'll assign parts of the program at our meeting on the 2nd.
Tuesday, October 18th, about 10 of our group are going to the Queen Anne's County Hospice Fashion Show & Luncheon. There's also a silent auction, I believe. It'll be $25 a person and we'll have a grand time! See Debra for details & tickets.

Looking ahead; Our November meeting will be on Sunday, the 13th. The annual Cookie Walk will be on Saturday, December 10th.
Our December meeting will be on Sunday, the 11th. Also, we’d like everyone to know that we are supporting a program, along with other churches, that provides take home food for children at the Kent Island Elementary School, who otherwise would not have anything ( or next to nothing ) to eat over the weekends. The children are picked on a needs basis by the school counselor and provided with a bag of food (juice boxes, non-perishable entrees, fruit snacks, granola bars, etc ) for Saturday and Sunday. We decided that we'd donate $1,000, sent to us from the VFW, to pay for 5 children for this school year. Hunger is a serious problem in Queen Anne's county; 16% of the kids on Kent Island don't get enough to eat over the weekends and in upper Q.A. Co. the number is around 20%. We felt we needed to do our part to help, so we gladly turned the money over to the group doing the actual buying, packing and delivery of the food bags.
