THRIVENT FINANCIAL FOR LUTHERANS
THRIVENT NEWS
Thrivent Financial is a national Lutheran support organization that provides insurance, financial products and counseling. In addition, Thrivent provides matching funds to local chapters for projects in their churches and communities. It is not necessary to purchase their insurance or other financial investments in order to be a member. Lutherans can become associate members for a fee of $10.00 per year. This entitles them to all benefits except scholarships for their children or a vote for national officers. Galilee is a member of Thrivent's Delmar Chapter.
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has provided $1020.00 for each church for the current calendar year for the Care in Congregation program for hands-on service activities and fund-raising activities to help our congregation. Thrivent's Care Abounds in Communities program provides funds to help Thrivent Financial members meet the needs of individuals, families or qualified non-profit organizations in their communities. Galilee has already provided $600.00 to the Women's Guild sponsorship of a Seminary student. Thrivent has matched $1600.00 for Vacation Bible School which is a big outreach for the children of our community. Thrivent provided the DelMar Chapter with $500.00 for a Join Hands Day project. Galilee used these funds to provide groceries to the Living Water Food Bank. Other projects are $388.00 to Trinity for a Care in Communities program and $274.00 to Trinity for a Care in Communities project. Christ Church matched $1020.00 for a Care in Congregations project. Other projects are pending.
