PRESIDENT’S REPORT – SEPTEMBER 2010
Hope everyone had a great summer. There hasn't been much going on the last couple of months, but it's time to get geared up for the fall.
Our schedule kicks off with Rally Day, which is the opening day of Sunday School. We'll be having a pot-luck picnic at 12:00 Noon.
Church Council will meet on September 12th also. As always, you are invited to attend and put forth your comments and concerns. DON'T BE SHY!
Confirmation classes will start on Tuesday, September 21st at 4:00 PM and will continue at that time every week unless notified otherwise.
Mens' Bible study will be held on Saturday, September 18th at 9:00 AM at the church hall.
Congregational Meeting will be on Sunday, September 19th following our worship service. It's important that you attend this meeting and give us your input on the various subjects under discussion.
Saturday, September 25th will be a church "Clean up Day". This will be for indoors and outdoors projects. We'll get started at 8:00 AM. Please join us and bring any cleaning supplies and tools that you have on hand.
God’s blessings to all. JIM
PRESIDENT’S REPORT – MAY 2010
LOT SALE
Our lots 4 and 5 were contracted for sale through Exit Realty. They were listed for $119,999.00. Almost immediately, we received an offer for the listed price from a builder in Annapolis. We have a signed contract that is contingent on the builder getting approval of 2 building permits within 45 days. If so, closing will be by May 31. Also in the contract is an easement that states that there will be no structures built within 15 feet of the back corner of our hall.
A member noted that our sign was badly in need of re-painting. Susie Wishard volunteered to accomplish this. Many thanks, Susie.
There was much discussion on our declining attendance and much talk on the importance of Evangelism. Lois Miller introduced a Galilee “business card” to be distributed by our members at every opportunity. She stated that she would provide the cards at no expense to Galilee. This will be a good way to get our church mentioned to many people. Hopefully we will take advantage to follow up on the slightest sign of interest. Thank you very much Lois for this gift of Evangelism.
Due to repeated attempts at break-ins, we are working on the installation of an alarm system under the advice and direction of Tom Steg. Thanks Tom.
FUND RAISER
All but a few of the 800 Easter Eggs were sold. We should net a profit of $1600 - $1700.
Proceeds from this project will be used for a future performance by Youth International, sponsored by Galilee, for the community. We are requesting a $1200 match from Thrivent.
CONFIRMATIOM
Confirmation will be held during our service on May 2nd. Congratulations to CJ and Ashley.
I urge us all to continue trying to find the will and the way to increase our membership, our attendance and our income.
God’s blessings to all. JIM
